As Principal Architect, she brings 15 years of experience in high-end custom residential design, construction, and project delivery; gained through her work at prestigious Austin architecture firms. She has a strong aptitude for energy efficient architectural design, detailing, and technical aspects of implementation, grounded in her specialized graduate studies and many successfully constructed projects.
She is a licensed Architect, registered in Texas since 2009. TBAE Registration #21669.
In 1999, Sharon George earned a 5 year B.Arch degree from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, in South India. She had learned the passive approach to climate sensitive architecture, but wanted to learn more about active strategies. That brought her to the Design with Climate program offered by the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin. She graduated with a Master of Science in Architectural Studies; M.S.A.S – Sustainable Architecture.
Her Master’s thesis was a research topic on “Rainwater Harvesting for Contemporary Communities in Arid and Semi-Arid Regions: A reinterpretation of indigenous technologies.” She conducted case studies in Mexico and India. She then developed a calculus for rainwater systems design and sizing for sustainable use.
While at UT, she was an active participant in the Solar Decathlon Building Workshop. The UT SoA collaborated with Pliny Fisk and the Centre for Maximum Potential Building Systems (CMPBS) to design and build an 800 s.f. solar-powered net-zero home-office. It was a winning entry for the first ever US DOE Solar Decathlon Intercollegiate Competition 2002.
Prior to establishing her own firm, Sharon spent 3.5 years as Director of Architecture at Jauregui Architecture Interiors Construction. She managed the architectural staff and all projects (through all phases of design, documentation, detailing, and construction administration), in order to facilitate a seamless design-build project delivery.
Previously, she worked as Project Architect at Barley Pfeiffer Architecture for almost 9 years, successfully completing many energy-efficient homes, several of which have been rated as 5-star by the Austin Green Building Program and LEED for Homes.
