Located on a sloped lot with poor water drainage and bad soil conditions, this split level house had severe foundation issues caused by differential settlement. A big part of the remodel was to stabilize the foundation through an extensive repair involving the installation of 60 drilled piers below the existing foundation and then lifting the foundation by 6". Yikes! Not a small feat, but with the help of my experienced engineer and repair company with exactly that expertise, we pulled it off.
The homeowners wanted to update the layout of spaces to work for their family. As well, a layout that would appeal to future homeowners (with small kids) if and when they sell the home in a few years. They also wanted to update the aesthetics of the entire home to reflect their personal contemporary style (as much as possible with a remodel, without breaking the bank!).
