As a builder, we work with a lot of architects. Sharon George is, hands down, one of our favorites. Her plans and homes are intuitively designed and still beautiful. Sharon has a firm grasp of building code and all the intricacies of building in Austin and surrounding communities as well as a wealth of market knowledge. Working with Sharon has been very collaborative - she welcomes ideas and feedback and offers plenty of her own. What sets Sharon apart is her precision. She doesn't miss anything and her plans are detailed in a way we, as builders, could never even have conceived of. Wondering how high up the wall that particular outlet is? Don't worry, it's marked in the plans. Literally, trades would need to go out of their way to mess something up using her plans. And this isn't something we requested or even knew we needed. Every builder has their own particular bugaboos, Sharon will remember all the feedback you provided in all her projects and apply that to the current one. Since our first project together, every new project has reflected our feedback from the previous, automatically, without our asking for them again. Sharon has been a joy to work with. When we purchased our house 7 years ago, we had the idea of building an addition above the garage. Quite a big project and fairly intimidating for non-construction experts like us, so we never got to do it because we did not know the right people. And then we met Sharon, our architect. I am a financial auditor so I am very suspicious by nature. Meeting with Sharon was like a burden was taken off our shoulders; our project was finally taking shape. We trusted Sharon from the start. Sharon took the time to get to know us and how we were living in our current house before talking drawings and construction permit. Sharon put us at ease very quickly. We were never under pressure when it was time to make decisions. Sharon gave us the time we needed to think it through.
Sharon is very professional and her input was invaluable. She brought great ideas to the table to make our addition more comfortable and more affordable at the same time. Sharon prepares high quality drawings. Sharon pays attention to every detail, and would make any changes we wanted before sending updated drawings sometimes within the same day. She is a very knowledgeable architect.
We wanted to move quickly on this project and Sharon is the architect who gets things done and on time. Very efficient, and very responsive. Very easy to work with, always available when we needed her. We submitted her drawings to the City and our construction permit was issued within a few weeks only, thanks to the quality of her drawings.

We had the pleasure of working with Sharon George - Architecture By George during the past year for an unplanned and not budgeted remodel necessitated by a major plumbing / water structural damage issue. Since we had no easily available budget and were overwhelmed with several options and directions to consider (from super basic repairs to a full remodel involving all integrated walls) we needed help navigating toward a strategic plan. We were pleased with the creative process, specifically the way Sharon articulated our thoughts into the designs and plan options Sharon presented. She really helped us turn this misfortune into an opportunity to think outside the box to fix the damage while modernizing our 1971 ranch house and map out a future phased plan for budget purposes.

When I found Sharon’s website and began reading through her process, I knew we spoke the same language. My husband and I, who are focused on turning our existing home into our forever home, were looking for someone to look at our space and see potential that we weren’t seeing.
Sharon offers a service that I haven’t really seen a lot of, but could not recommend more highly. For an extremely reasonable price, she visited our home and gave us layout ideas, professional advice and explained her process in detail. She then summarized everything we talked about and came up with an incredibly detailed proposal of how the project would run start to finish, how she would help us choose a contractor based on our needs and goals, and then work with our contractor of choice. With the amount of steps and decisions that take place during a major renovation, her proposal made it clear that her experience and attention to detail would be a top priority and could ultimately help avoid some mistakes/errors during the process.
While my husband and I decided there are a few more planning elements that we want to complete before we get started with developing formal plans, without Sharon’s help we might have missed important details and considerations that could have thrown our project (and budget) off from the very beginning. We look forward to re-engaging Sharon once we’re really ready to get started!

Sharon was. a pleasure to work with! We added a second floor addition to our ranch style home in Austin. From the beginning, we liked that she gave us options for how involved she could be. We are pretty hands-on people, so is was nice to hire her to do what we needed. During the initial consultation, she gave us ideas that were exciting and outside the box. As the design progressed, she gained a greater understanding of the look we were going for and added details to enhance that look. She was flexible to incorporated our desires and to suggest things we hadn't considered. The main charge was that we wanted the addition to look like it had always been that way. Sharon architected our home remodel project. We wanted to add a media room and a gym. We also wanted to make our living room open and update the front look of the house. Sharon was outstanding in designing these modifications. She remodeled the living room and the front of the house without making any drastic changes to the structure of the house. She made recommendations to upgrade the kitchen as well again with minimal changes. The result is stunning. We wanted to add the media room and gym on top of the garage. She was instrumental in making sure the height of the rooms aligned with rest of the house. Also the stairs to going up to the rooms was seamlessly integrated with rest of the house even though it was challenging. During construction Sharon helped with so many decisions. She worked with our interior designer and recommended high quality vendors and materials. There were some mistakes in measurements made by the construction crew and she caught it in time saving us time and money. I would recommend Sharon 100%.
